1. Chief of Party – Sierra Leone Malaria Activity

What You’ll Do (Simplified):

The Chief of Party will serve as the senior in-country leader responsible for the successful delivery of the Sierra Leone Malaria Activity.

The position involves working closely with the Ministry of Health, National Malaria Programme, U.S. Department of State representatives and other development stakeholders.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing overall strategic direction for the programme.
• Managing day-to-day project implementation and ensuring key targets are achieved.
• Representing Abt Global in high-level meetings with government and development partners.
• Leading the delivery of important programme reports, work plans and technical activities.
• Monitoring project timelines, budgets, risks and contractual obligations.
• Ensuring project milestones and acceptance requirements are completed on schedule.
• Supporting malaria prevention and vector control activities, including interventions designed to reduce malaria transmission.
• Leading discussions with government partners on programme priorities, capacity gaps and transition planning.
• Supervising and mentoring senior project managers and other team members.
• Overseeing budget projections, expenditure tracking and financial reporting.
• Ensuring staff, consultants and subcontractors comply with project and organisational requirements.
• Promoting safeguarding, ethical conduct and accountability throughout project implementation.
• Documenting lessons learned and sharing effective practices.
• Maintaining regular communication with Abt Global's wider project management team.

This is essentially a high-accountability leadership role. The successful candidate will be expected to keep a fast-moving health programme on track while balancing technical priorities, stakeholder expectations, finances and contractual requirements.

Who This Role Is Best For:

This position is best suited to an experienced public health or international development leader.

Candidates should have a strong academic and professional background. Depending on their educational qualifications, applicants are expected to demonstrate substantial relevant experience.

A Master's degree is the minimum preferred level in an area such as:

• Public Health
• Health Administration
• Another relevant health specialisation
• Business Administration

A Doctorate may provide an additional advantage.

The strongest candidates will have experience in:

• International health programmes.
• Malaria prevention and control.
• Senior project or programme management.
• Managing large, multidisciplinary teams.
• Working with government ministries and international development partners.
• Budget and financial management.
• Contract compliance and milestone-based programme delivery.
• Risk, scope, schedule and quality management.

Professional fluency in English is required.
