Who we are:
We are the BBC’s international charity. We believe in the power of media and communication for good. With our extensive network of partners in the 16 countries we work, BBC Media Action reaches more than 100 million people a year – helping to save lives, protect livelihoods, support media and counter misinformation, challenge prejudice and build democracy.
Why work with us
At BBC Media Action, you don’t work for us; you work with us. We are a creative and dynamic team with an exciting work environment and culture that supports and enables people to thrive. When you work with us, you’re contributing to helping tackle some of the biggest challenges facing people and communities.
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for a Mentor with excellent digital and media content skills, a team player, leadership, and interpersonal relationships. BBC Media Action is setting up media hubs in three universities under the EU-funded DIS NA WI VOICE project. These hubs will be resource centers that provide capacity (training and support) to youth leaders who can drive citizen journalism, civic participation, and youth voice.
This Mentor role will support training delivery both within the university’s hubs and for digital stewards and digital content creation. As such, the role will absolutely require effective working knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures in relation to the protection of children and vulnerable adults. For the successful candidate, mandatory training will be provided on BBC Media Action’s safeguarding policy and staff code of conduct. A police background check will form part of the recruitment process. BBC Media Action operates a zero-tolerance policy concerning all forms of abuse and exploitation of vulnerable people.
JOB PURPOSE
The Mentor will support training delivery both within the hubs and for digital stewards and digital content creators.
